Star Wars made me, that’s right, made me fall in love with cinema. How can you not love immersing yourself in such a rich, wonderfully diverse franchise? Many times, I have fallen asleep imagining new stories or characters fitting into its universe. I have countless droid names stored in my mind library, ready for the day when Lucasfilm asks me to direct a film for them. Anyway, when I was a young child, I was guilty of role-playing my made-up stories & characters. Without shame, I obsessively lightsaber dueled my poor garden apple tree – that hefty stump knew firsthand what sophisticated saber skills I possessed!
Why do I tell this story? Well, this is my earliest memory where my imagination ran wild. From then on, I would watch any movie or a tv drama and often imagined or played out certain new story elements or side plots that I made up in my head. It wasn’t until I was a little older did I realized that what I was actually doing was critiquing the art I had just watched. Still, today I have these thoughts (less role-play) and built a blog where I can express my opinion. Please, by no means do you have to agree with it; I just ask that you respectfully disagree in a constructive way.
